Isolate Your Home Base

Board up any openings and make sure that you leave certain areas for you to look out through. Make sure that you build up your supply of raw materials so that you are boarding up and protected during chaotic and uncertain times. If you are fond of electricity and want to use it when things go down, make sure that you get a generator that will allow you to have electric wiring working. If that is not going to be an option, stock up on candles and plenty of matches so that you can have light when the darkness is upon you.

Food and Water

Make absolutely sure that you stock up on canned goods, and plenty of water. Make sure that your ratio consists of far more water than food because you can’t go without water for a long time. You’re going to need a few month’s worth stocked up so plan ahead and start today. Fill out whatever space you have in your home and keep a running inventory of what you have to ensure that you’re well stocked for emergencies and beyond.

Currency

Money is going to be an issue no matter what life throws at you. Make sure that you have money stored away in your home somewhere. Whether it’s coins, or you have a great deal of paper money, make sure that you have a variety of currency that will let you purchase goods and services if need be. When in doubt, go with coins, as they are always going to be harder to destroy than paper bills.

Military Grade Protection

The last tip is in regards to arming yourself and your family with weapons and ammunition. Consider the local laws in your area and stock up on whatever you need within reason. Make sure that every adult in your family is properly trained and keep these things out of the reach of all children. If you don’t’ want to have protection in the form of guns, than look for non-lethal options like mace. Furthermore, make sure that you invest in protection like body armor, helmets and more just in case you have to go out into the public and defend yourself.

There is no telling what is going to happen in these modern times. Anything could cause a break down of society and to be prepared you need to look at the above things and if you don’t adhere to them, at least start planning for the worst right now. Without preplanning you will be another one of the millions of victims that will vanish when calamity reigns. It can happen at any moment, so watch out.
