A friend of mine I hadn’t seen in a while came up to me at the bar the other night. We made some idle chit-chat and then he asked me ‘Hey, do you remember that wild night we had out on the town last summer and all the crazy stuff that happened?” I just laughed and nodded in agreement. I had no idea what he was talking about. He only hung around me for a few minutes and then he left, but he left me wondering exactly what it is we did that night. There’s nothing quite like having a Houston nightlife chat about something you don’t remember at all.

It can actually be pretty frustrating to realize that you have had such a great time and don’t remember anything about it. You hear all these great stories about things that you did or how much fun you were and all you have to go by is what other people are saying. Although in today’s world, it gets harder and harder to forget the things that you have done.

With the use of cell phones and social media today, anytime you do anything that might be crazy or stupid, it is easily documented by someone and posted somewhere right away. I know my friends have often referred me to their pages so I can see exactly what happened in pictures or video. I can honestly say that I don’t always look because I am afraid of what I might find out.

There are a couple of things that make nights like this even worse. One is when you check your answering machine and have a bunch of random messages from people you don’t know, or think you don’t know, saying either thanks for the fun time last night or calling you all kinds of names for something you did last night.

Worse is seeing a girl the next day that you have no recollection of at all. Apparently I said some nice and sweet things to her and we had a great time, but I have no memory of it or what her name actually is. I sometimes just nod and give her a hug and walk away, saying I’ll call her, although I usually have no idea who she is or what her number is.

I good thing to do on nights like this is check your pockets the next day. They can usually give you some clues as to what went on. You might find things like business cards, ticket stubs, phone numbers, names and maybe even a bail bonds receipt.

Take my advice when you have a night you can’t recall at all. Have nice Houston nightlife chat with the buddies who were with you before you even leave your place. At least then maybe you can piece some things together and avoid getting into any trouble before you venture outside.
