Houston Least Likely Nightclub to See Hello Kitty Wear
Just about every weekend I pretty much go through the same routine with my friends. We are always running through our list of things to do in downtown Houston. Lately, one of the problems seems to be that we are part of the older crowd now and all these youngsters seem to be taking over the clubs and bars. I have nothing against anyone going out and having a good time, but I would like to be able to go out to a nightclub without having to see some young lady wearing something with Hello Kitty on it.
I know I probably sound like an old geezer by complaining about something like this. It\’s bad enough I feel old every time we go out to a dance club or bar, but when I see a group of girls all wearing t-shirts with this big smiling cat on it, it makes me feel ten times older. I understand that it is trendy and all, but come on.
Shouldn\’t you want to look nice when you go out to a club or a bar? I mean the idea is that you want to look good for other people, so you want to try and put your best foot forward where something like this is concerned. Is this really the way to do that? By dressing like you think you are still ten years old?
Some girls seem to go completely overboard with it. They don\’t just wear a t-shirt or a skirt or a jacket with the emblem on it. They have to have the purse, the hair accessories, lip balm, earrings, necklace, you name it. Somewhere this cat is getting very rich of all this stuff you see everywhere.
I would like to go to a club and meet a girl and have a good time. When I see someone dressed like this, I get put off right away and just move on. Maybe you can call me a snob, but I don\’t want to date a cartoon character. If I did, there are much hotter ones around, like Wonder Woman or Batgirl.
My friends and I have found a few places where the usual people attending don\’t seem to go along with this type of fashion. Admittedly, the groups that come here may seem a little bit older, but we have quite reached the octogenarian crowd where we are having the early bird dinner at 4:30 just yet. There are still some people in the middle who like to go out, look nice and have a good time you know.
I look forward to things to do in downtown Houston every weekend. It\’s fun to hang out and be with my friends and not feel like I am going to a playground each night. Hopefully some of these people will realize that maybe it\’s time to move on to more grown up clothes and hobbies.
