While there is a lot of Houston nightlife activity going on every weekend, sometimes you do happen to run into people that you work with at various places. It’s not always a problem for me; I like most of the people I work with and don’t mind going out with them or being seen by them when I am out. We can say hello and have a drink and then move on. This is true of everybody except your boss. I don’t know about you, but seeing my boss out at a club or bar is just plain uncomfortable. You’ll think it’s even more uncomfortable once I explain the situation where I saw my boss.

We were looking for something new to do one Friday night and were scouring the Internet to see what was going on in the city that night. We saw that one club that we like to go to was having a drink special and a special show that night, so we figured we would go check it out. It sounded like it could be fun.

We got to the club, paid our cover charges and went in and sat down. We ordered some drinks and everything seemed pretty normal as we turned towards the stage to see what was going on. It looked like it was going to be some type of burlesque show and there were a few acts that came on and performed. It was funny and entertaining but nothing special.

The show continued on and then there was a big musical number that came up. The stage was filled with all these singers dressed in their burlesque costumes, which were somewhat risque. After watching it for a moment, I determined that all of the singers were men in drag, singing women’s parts. Some of them looked pretty good and they sounded good. I clued in my friends as to what it was and they had a good laugh and couldn’t believe it.

As the singers sang their song, they began to work their way around the room and stopped at various tables and sang. I tall blond stopped at our table and sang her part dressed in her skimpy costume. She sat in my friend’s lap right next to me. As I got a better look at the blond, it dawned on me that this person looked familiar. It was then that I was able to figure out that it was my boss in drag singing this number!

I never let on that I recognized him, but I think when he turned to me he recognized me and ran off to another table. The following Monday in work he could barely look at me. I never said anything to anyone at the office because the boss seems to be treating me better now. You never know who you are going to run into during some Houston nightlife activity!
