The Grand Canyon Skywalk is one of the most famous bridges on the planet. And now you can experience it by helicopter from Las Vegas! There are plenty of options available and there\’s bound to be one that\’s ideal for you.

The internationally famous Grand Canyon Skywalk is the world\’s largest glass cantilevered bridge in the world. Think that\’s cool? Check out these factoids:

Indeed, the Skywalk is one of Grand Canyon West\’s main attractions, but it\’s not the only one. Inside the Park, there are such key points of interest like:

1. Guano Point. Known as the \”Bat Cave\” because it used to be a guano mine.

2. Eagle Point. Spectacular view of a canyon ridge that looks exactly like an eagle with its wings spread.

3. Hualapai Ranch. A western town where hot food is served and mock gunfights are staged.

4. Indian Cultural Center. An authentic, outdoors interpretive museum where you can experience life the way the Hualapai Indian live it.

There are numerous ways to visit the Skywalk and Grand Canyon West, including bus and airplane. But my personal favorite is helicopter. Why? Because they are fast, thrilling, and let you access the canyon in ways that no other mode of transport can.

Helicopter tours come in two flavors: Aerial and landing. I recommend doing a landing tour if you are strapped for time and want to sample the best the National Park has to offer. En route, the standard air tour flies over:

1. Lake Mead. The U.S.\’ largest manmade reservoir.

2. Hoover Dam. A majestic edifice responsible for managing the flow of the mighty Colorado River.

3. Fortification Hill. An extinct volcano that dominates the landscape.

4. Grand Wash Cliffs. The official entry point for helis into the Park.

Once in Grand Canyon airspace, you\’ll fly over the most inspiring parts of the West Rim, including the Skywalk. It\’s a fantastic trip, and one I wholly endorse. That said, I\’m much more partial to landing tours.

Landing trips include everything you see on the air tour, except they land at the bottom of the canyon (the West Rim is the only place in the entire Park where you can do this!) or on top of the rim at Grand Canyon West Airport.

The bottom-landing trip is the most popular and comes with a picnic. It can be extended to include a Colorado River boat ride and VIP tickets to the Glass Bridge. Or you can land at the top, do the Skywalk and explore all the rim-top has to offer.

Skywalk helicopter tours are all-inclusive and come with complimentary hotel pick up and drop off, lunch (air-only tours excluded), professional guide service and all West Rim entry fees. The only thing you need to give thought to is what to wear and how much fun you’ll be having.

My last thought concerns how much these trips cost. To make Skywalk helicopters even more affordable, I strongly recommend purchasing your flight online direct from the travel supplier (not “big box” brokers like Travelocity, Priceline and Expedia). Further, once you’ve found the flight you want, make sure you complete the booking on the website in order to qualify for the Internet discount.
