Choosing the right tile for your project can be a pretty daunting task. There are many different types of tiling for different projects that it takes a bit of research to find out which one would be right for what you want to accomplish. For example, a certain tile you would want to use for your bathroom may not be a good match to place in your living room. Likewise a certain type of tile in your kitchen might not work for your bathroom.

Ceramic Tiles:Ceramic tiles are created from rich clay which is gathered from deep in the earth. It has an elegant, but natural appearance. Ceramic tiles are usually glazed in a matte or satin finish. If you want a more natural looking tile you can choose to have it unglazed or what they call \”quarry\” tiles. This tiling is usually found in bathrooms and residential kitchens. It can be used for flooring, walls and kitchen countertops. Ceramic is a durable material does well against stains and scratches.

Marble Tiles:Marble is another material that is pretty elegant, plus it comes with a variety of colors most commonly which are white, pink, gray and black. This material can also have either a matte or polished finish. This material is ideal for countertops and walls in the kitchen and in the bathroom. A lot of sinks and vanities are made of marble as well. Marble is not a good material to use for bathroom floors because it becomes slippery when wet. If you want to have marble flooring, you should choose to have tiles with a matte finish.

Vinyl Tile:Vinyl tile is a material that is both low-cost and pretty durable. It is a popular material for floors in high-traffic areas because it is resistant to impact damage and it is highly comfortable to walk on. If installed properly then vinyl tiles don not need too much maintenance. It is ideal for both residential and commercial areas and is a good material to use if you want to go for an antique look.

Granite Tile:Granite is one of the most common building materials which has been used for centuries in both indoor and outdoor projects. It is a hard stone which is resistant to both water and scratches.

Porcelain Tile:Porcelain tile is known both for its beauty and durability. It is available in many different colors and textures, and is easy to maintain. It is frost resistant and is great for use for bathroom furniture, flooring and walls. Small businesses tent to use porcelain tile because it works well in light traffic areas.

Slate Tile:Slate is a material with a rough exterior and has a rustic appearance. Despite looking like a tough material it tends to scratch and stain easily making it a terrible choice for kitchen countertops. The tradeoff however is that it can be used for interior and exterior projects such as flooring, walls, and material for a patio or porch.

Travertine Tile:Travertine is a type of stone tile that can be used in different residential projects. For a stone it is easier to cut than others and so it can be cut to fit any type of area. Besides flooring it can be used on kitchen countertop sinks, in showers and on fireplaces. If used outdoors it can be used as a garden path or patio. A quick not, travertine quickly absorbs liquids so it is important to clean up any spills quickly and to be careful in which types of cleaning materials you use for its upkeep.

Linoleum Tile:Linoleum is a tile that looks attractive no matter where you put it. As flooring it can last a long time and doesn\’t usually require tons of upkeep. It is extremely water-resistant so it can be placed in different areas that may become wet.
