1-Day Grand Canyon Rafting Tours For Families and Groups

Plan on visiting the Grand Canyon and looking for something new and adventurous to do? Take a 1-day Grand Canyon rafting tour and you\’ll experience the National Park in the most unique way possible.

These trips are available from Las Vegas and South Rim, AZ. They depart once in the morning, every day of the week. Please note that the season ends in mid-November so book your trip soon if you intend to do it in 2014.

Las Vegas

The Vegas trip is a hybrid adventure that combines a helicopter ride to the bottom of the Canyon with a float down the Colorado River.

Few know this but the West Rim is the only place where you can take a helicopter to the floor of the Canyon, which makes this segment of the journey extra special.

The rafting tour starts at the base of Hoover Dam, which is extraordinary because the Dam is 726 feet tall and towers above you (great photo opportunity alert!).

The raft goes 11 miles down the Colorado via magnificent Black Canyon before concluding at Willow Beach, a great swimming \”hole\” that\’s perfect for cooling off.

South Rim

The South Rim floats are truly unique. They start from Grand Canyon National Park Airport, go to Glen Canyon Dam and then shove off down the Colorado for 15 miles.

There are two versions of this float. The first requires taking a bus to the Dam for the rafting trip. The second, which is more deluxe, starts with a plane ride to the Dam and comes with a Jeep tour of fantastic Antelope Canyon.

I personally prefer the deluxe version because it packs in so much value. The plane ride over lets you see all of the National Park up to its eastern border. Further, the flight is just 60 minutes compared to 2.5 hours by bus.

No Rapids

Float trips are smooth-water rides so there\’s no white water with which to contend. This is ideal for families because kids as young as 4 can do them. They are also perfect for active seniors.

Trips are all-inclusive, which means they come with all taxes, fees, gear, guide service and lunch. They are what you\’d call \”done-for-you\” adventures and they have proven to be extremely popular with travelers.

Which brings me to my next point: Book your float trip ahead of time. Folks, these trips often sell out and that\’s why I recommend reserving your seats at least a week in advance.

Cancellation policies are very generous. If for whatever reason your trip is cancelled due to weather, you get a full 100 percent refund. And if your plans change, you also get a full refund if you notify us within 48 hours of your departure date.

Conclusion

I hope this article about 1-day Grand Canyon rafting tours has helped you decide that you want to do one. Frankly, I think they\’re an incredible value, and I\’ve yet to find at tour that can accommodate large groups and families as well as these tours. But do be aware that these trips fill up. Thus I strongly recommend you book them in advance and online in order to make sure you have seats when you get to Vegas or the National Park.
