There\’s a saying that you \”always get what you pay for.\” And when it comes down to Grand Canyon helicopter tours, it\’s absolutely right as the deluxe tours are by far the better value.

Such tours are available from Las Vegas, NV, and South Rim, AZ. They depart every day but are prone to being sold out because of their popularity and the limited number of flights available.

But don\’t let that spook you. There are two ways to make sure you get these premium trips. The first is to book in advance. I always recommend at least two weeks. Second, buy them online because it\’s faster and cheaper.

Las Vegas

You can spot a Vegas deluxe flight by its take-off point. In this case, it will be the Las Vegas Strip; cheaper tours leave from Boulder City, which is 30 minutes out of town.

These tours also include free chauffeured limousine service. I find this to be ideal if you are looking to impress business colleagues or a significant other during an anniversary weekend.

Deluxe trips also include a full-blown tour of the Las Vegas Strip. This usually happens after you visit the Grand Canyon. They start from the top of the Strip and go down to the end. In between, you\’ll see al the highlights.

These tours also ONLY use the EcoStar 130, which is a superior aircraft. It\’s extraordinary because its cabin is 25% larger than typical helicopters. It boasts a full, 180-degree windshield and theater-style seating, which means every seat is a good one.

Vegas helicopter capture all the key landmarks, including Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the Colorado River, the Skywalk and the Canyon. Further, you can opt to purchase a landing tour that will take you to the bottom for a Champagne toast!

South Rim

This is the rim inside the National Park in northern Arizona. Helicopters are not allowed to fly below the rim and land. The Most popular flights are the 30-minute and the 50-minute tours.

The shorter one is ideal for travlers who have limited time and want to sample as much of the Canyon as possible. However, I do recommend you strongly consider the 50-minute flight because it will let you take in up to 75 percent of the Park.

Both flights use the EcoStar 130 that I described earlier, which is a good thing because you\’ll want to take full advantage of that wraparound windshield if you are a photographer or a person who is passionate about HUGE panoramas!

Conclusion

I hope I was able to make my case for deluxe Grand Canyon helicopter tours. Indeed, these flights are more costly but the perks more than make up for it. For example, Las Vegas tours use the EcoStar 130 and come with limousine service and a Vegas Strip tour. South Rim trips use the EcoStar, too, and if you\’re fortunate enough to book the 50-minute flight, you\’ll see nearly the entire Park in under an hour.
