The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is just around the corner, making it a perfect time to visit Grand Canyon National Park by helicopter from Las Vegas, NV, or South Rim, AZ.

Thanksgiving, which is the most popular fall holiday in the U. S., is on Thursday, November 26, with most travelers usually extending it into a vacation through the weekend.

South Rim

This particular rim is located in northern Arizona and the two most popular tours for Thanksgiving are the 30-minute and 50-minute all-air tours. The shorter one goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back. The longer one does this, too, as well as everything up to Park\’s eastern border.

Frankly, I prefer the 50-minute all-air flight as it\’s the best value and after you\’ve done it you\’ll have seen up to 75 percent of the Park in under one hour! There\’s also a 30-minute helicopter ride combined with a 2.5-hour Jeep tour that\’s also super popular.

Be prepared for a bit of a chill in the air as it\’s indeed autumn weather here at both rims of the Canyon. The West Rim, which is closest to Las Vegas, will offer more temperate climes on par with Vegas\’ temperatures. The South Rim, which sits at a much higher elevation, will be cool throughout the day. Regardless which rim you visit, dress in layers and as the day warms up you can adjust accordingly.
