Consequently, each bakery’s sourdough has a distinct taste to it. The combination of starter dough, culture, air temperature, humidity and elevation contributes to each batch’s different flavor.
Sourdough starter can be used in two different ways, but typically it is mixed into the bread dough and the bread is kneaded and allowed to rise as normal. The process is similar to an original piece of baker’s yeast.
You should also know that you have to be careful when taking care of the bread so that it stays fresh. You must take care to rinse the sourdough starters which often takes longer than other types of bread.
