Solar Power – Don’t Waste It!

It almost seems that waste is necessary these days.

Whatever we buy is double and triple wrapped to ensure its contents are safe, secure, clean etc. We immediately strip all the packaging off and dispose of it. The bin almost certainly has a liner so it doesn’t get dirty either!

Yet go outside and you’ll see plastic bags fluttering in the trees. Fast food wrappers litter the car parks and roadside. Drivers will wind down their windows and throw cigarette packets or sweet wrappers out rather than wait and drop them in a bin prescription cialis generic somewhere …the priorities seem topsy-turvy somehow. We seem to have lost the sense of pride in our surroundings.

Whether it is ‘our’ space; garden, house, car or public space in the park, road or country-side it should all be treated the same.

At night, the waste of power is bordering on criminal; street lighting on everywhere all night, constant power use. generic brand for cialis Yes, safety is an issue but is it ALL, really necessary?

I don’t like to stand at the door of my own or for that matter anyone else’s home, in the cold weather, with the door open. It doesn’t make sense to let all of the heat energy out of the house. Go outside or come back inside, one or the other and shut the door!

I look out at the sun and think that we are wasting both that and the breeze too.

I am not alone in this view (even if it feels that way sometimes ?) … Thomas Edison said in 1931, shortly before he died:
“I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.”

We have the scientific capability to convert both solar and wind energy into electrical power effectively. We have the technology to enable lighting to be switched automatically by movement (PIR’s etc). All these things are possible but we seem to abdicate the responsibility in the same way the litterers do.

I don’t necessarily subscribe to all that is said, quoted & requoted about global warming; however I do view the ‘waste’ of solar and wind energy as ridiculous. We have the technology; we have the knowledge readily available. All it takes is a bit of money and some effort and we could resolve the world’s power problems.

You will certainly have seen this quote before or something very similar but I still think it worth repeating:
“Every hour, enough of sunlight energy reaches the Earth to meet the world’s energy demand for a whole year.”

We COULD take some responsibility, personally. Without a great deal of effort or money we could build our own solar panels or wind turbines.

The m ajority of people

are well able to take on a small DIY project. It doesn’t have to be a work of art! What better than to build your own solar panels.

They could be positioned Kamagra on a roof or in the garden; provided they have clear line-of-sight with the sun for as much of the day as possible they will provide, effectively FREE, power for many years. Even on cloudy days solar pv cells can produce some electricity. Wind turbines are equally simple to create as a DIY build. They are less easy to site for effective power generation, particularly in the urban environment because of the ‘disturbed’ wind patterns at low level.

The instructions to build DIY solar panels are relatively easily accessed …just Google “DIY Solar and Wind Energy” and you will return lots of sites with relatively cheap guides to enable you to build your own solar panel or wind turbine, at home, at low cost within a few days. Assess these guides to make sure you have one that is right for you, taking into account your own DIY capabilities and you could have your own solar panels built and saving you money within a week or two.

Once completed, you will also know that you are ‘doing your bit’ to reduce carbon emissions. You will be able to say with an amount of pride “I made that”!
