A Physical Therapy Aide Starts Her Journey to Become a Physical Therapist

I was jumping for joy when a large clinic in the city hired me as their physical therapist aide. This was not the main position that I have applied for, since I am a Physical therapist by heart and by profession. But since I haven’t passed the board exams yet, this is the only position that they can offer me for now. I will need a license to become a professional physical therapist.

I was very nervous, because I had a lot of competition for this position, but luckily I got it. Well, actually, I am one of three physical therapist aides who got it. So, this is a good start for me, because I have time to practice my mental and physical skills as a physical therapist before being in charge of the patients. This will serve as a stepping stone to become a good physical therapist. But for now, my main goal is to be an efficient physical therapists aide.

During my first day of work I can feel the chills in me; butterflies are still fluttering in every inch of my body. Though I have hands on experience with my patients during my school year, this is much different, because this is the real thing. This type of work requires helping patient to increase their mobility and assisting them during their therapy in our clinic. It is a good thing that I am a large built women and not to boast, but I have an appropriate height to lift a man who needs therapy and weighs twice as much as me. For me, I think it is a gift and an advantage in this type of work though for others it is not. But I don’t see the disadvantages with it, because this is who I am and could help me with a lot at work.

During my first month in the clinic, I met a patient who is undergoing a therapy for his knee which was injured during his hike up a mountain in Asia. He thought this was just a minor ankle or sprain, but then it turned out that it was Tadalis SX a much more serious muscle injury. I was helping him all throughout his therapy. I assisted him based on how I was instructed by the physical therapists and how I was trained.

I saw him improve a bit every day. Sometimes, the pain would increase, but his muscle mobility and strength were almost always improving. One day, he approached me and thanked me for all of the help that I had given him. It was his last session for his therapy, and the doctor said that he has improved a lot and that the injury in his knee has now healed. He is not supposed climbing mountains anymore, so that he doesn’t strain his knee. While watching him walk away from me, I felt mixed emotions. I was happy that I did a good job, made a patient happy and help a patient recover from his knee injury. However, I did enjoy conversations with him and hoped that my next patient would be as lively and determined.
