Jimmy Buffett Tickets – Performing for Gulf Coast Natives
After Hurricane Alex postponed its initial date, the free concert special in support of the Gulf Coast’s massive oil spill will premiere July 11 on CMT. All 35,000 tickets for the “CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett and Friends Live from the Gulf Coast” special were grabbed within 10 minutes, though fans can catch part of the live concert on CMT.
The show, which is currently expected to feature the Zac Brown Band, Allen Toussaint, Sonny Landreth, Jesse Winchester and more even after the date change (with the exception of Kenny Chesney), will also air on Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio. The vocal Gulf Coast native said in an interview, “If you’re born and raised on the Gulf Coast and it’s kind of in you, and you don’t feel anger and rage initially over what’s going on down there, I think you’re a hypocrite.” See this activist and longtime Gulf Coast resident perform live today with Jimmy Buffett tickets online.
Though Alex forced an official reschedule for “Buffett and Friends,” the country singer threw a surprise concert for fans at his sister’s restaurant on the concert’s original date. Lulu’s, a restaurant owned by Lucy Buffett, drew hundreds of fans after word spread that he would be performing an impromptu concert. Changing the famous “Margaritaville” lyrics to “I think it’s all BP’s fault!,” fans honored the musician with waves of applause.
“People Tadalis SX on this coast can survive anything,” Buffett said to Anderson Cooper during his 360 interview. “It’s another storm; it happens to be one we’re not quite used to in terms of what it’s leaving behind. But this is hurricane country and people bounce back. I love the resilience of people.” The famed “Margaritaville” singer not only lives but thrives in this hurricane country and most recently added a “Margaritaville” brand addition with a new hotel in Pensacola Beach, Fla. Margaritaville Beach Hotel features a Land Shark Landing, and a Frank and Lola Love Pensacola Cafe, among other relaxing activities. Best of all, “no passport is required.”
Buffett’s most successful single was the 1977 hit “Margaritaville” in which he has built an empire. The track from the 1977 album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes was his fourth studio album but first to give the Mississippi native a Top 10 hit. The album was his third with ABC-Dunhill Records and followed White Sport Coast and a Pink Crustacean (with the hit “Why Don’t We Get Drunk?”) and Living and Dying in 3/4 Time.
After the three year success that followed “Margaritaville,” Buffett fell off the top of the market in the charts but remained a favorite live performer. By the ’80s he had launched his Margaritaville clothing line and group of Key West clubs, a feat that enabled him to expand to fiction writing by the end of the decade. The first album in the ’90s turned things around for Buffett, as the live Feeding Frenzy went gold. The 1992 box set Boats, Beaches, Bars and Ballads followed and went on to become one of the best selling box sets in history. Along with a long list of extracurricular endeavors, Buffett has always remained a true performer and most recently released the 2009 album Buffet Hotel.
