Having to scrape ice off of a car windshield is a miserable thing. We’ve all had this problem before; and it can just add to the annoyances of winter.

For those who are late for work or school, here are some great tips for you. If you’re running late and you can’t seem to find a scraper in your car, there are other items that you can use that will also do the trick.

Think of using a spatula or a credit card in replacement of a scraper. These can work equally well in getting snow and ice off your car in a quick amount of time.

If you run into this problem a lot, there is a great way to prevent it from happening again; and all you need is a piece of cardboard!

The night before a snow or ice storm, find a piece of cardboard that is big enough to fit over the whole piece of glass. Put it on the windshield.

You can use the wipers to hold it in place so that it doesn’t blow away. Using this piece of cardboard will help protect your windshield from the elements overnight.

When you wake up in the morning, all you have to do is take the piece of cardboard off and you are ready to drive. This can save you a lot of headaches in the future!

There is also another very important thing that you need to keep in mind if you are late somewhere and need to scrape your window off quickly. If you don’t follow it, it can jeopardize your safety or even your life.

If they are late, many people only have time to scrape a small hole in the window that is enough for them to look out of. They think that they are smart enough to maneuver around the road while looking through this small hole.

While in many cases you will get to your destination without problem, this is not enough. Driving with only a small hole of vision is extremely dangerous and is not worth it.

This is because you need to always be aware of your surroundings in a vehicle, no matter where they come from; and most of the time, they can come from behind, the sides, or anywhere else.

If ice is covering most of your vehicular vision, you might not see a change in the road condition and you could be involved in a life-threatening accident. Nobody wants this to happen to them!

For your safety and everybody else’s, make sure you scrape off all the ice or snow from your windshield so that you can have a clear view of everything. You might be late to work, but at least you will have your life!
