Detroit Lions Tickets – Former Lions Greats Inducted into MSHOF

Many great names are recorded in the Detroit Lions’ annals. Two such players are wide receiver Herman Moore and kicker Eddie Murray. Moore played for the Lions from 1991-2001 and was one of the most prolific wide receivers in Lions’ history. He was named to the Pro Bowl on four different occasions. He holds the franchise’s record for career receptions with 670, career receiving yards with 9,174 and career receiving touchdowns with 62.

Murray played for the Lions from 1980 to 1991. He bounced around to many teams at the end of his career, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings. Murray is second on the Lions’ all-time leading scorer list with 1,113 points, outscored only be Jason Hanson. He was selected to the Pro Bowl twice and was a member of the NFL’s 1980s All-Decade Team.

Now, both former stars will be honored as part of the next class of inductees to the Michigan Sports No prescription cialis Hall of Fame. The ceremony honoring the new class-the MSHOF’s 54th in its history-will take place on Sept. 13 at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi. Along with Moore and Murray, the class of inductees also includes Bob Becker, George Blaha, Steve Fraser, Bill Fleming, Marian Ilitch, Rick Leach, Meg Mallon, Jack Roush and Jon Urbanchek.

These inductees were originally announced in 2008, but the ceremony hasn’t been held to induct them until now. According to the Detroit Lions’ website, chairman of the MSHOF board Scott Lesher said of the induction ceremony, “It’s been a long time coming for this induction ceremony and we appreciate the patience shown by our class of inductees. And we are very excited to honor them with their rightful place in the Hall of Fame. Mainly due to the economic challenges we have all faced, the Hall and the board has reluctantly postponed the induction ceremony for the past two years.” Neither Murray nor Moore has made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame yet, but an induction into the MSHOF could be a catalyst to further selections.

In other Detroit Lions news, the team has added insurance at the quarterback position by signing Shaun Hill to a two-year contract. The Lions traded away a 2011 draft pick to the San Francisco 49ers for Hill back in March, but the terms of his contract weren’t finalized until July. Hill started his NFL career as an undrafted free agent in 2002. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as their third string quarterback.

He went to NFL Europe for 2003 to play in NFL Europe and returned to the Vikings for three more seasons. He joined the Niners in 2006. Last season, he started six games and tallied 943 yards, five touchdowns, two interceptions and a passer rating of 79.6. He is expected to be the backup to starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford had a rough rookie season in 2009, but coaches, fans and analysts are hopeful for his progress in 2010. Fans can find Detroit Lions tickets online.
