Fans of the Zac Brown Band are sure to rejoice at this welcome bit of news. The country music band is getting ready to release their sophomore full-length album this September and frontman Brown has reassured fans that “it will be amazing.” Titled You Get What You Give, the album follows the group’s highly successful debut The Foundation, which still sits at the number two spot on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. The band received some validation for all of their hard work when they received the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2010.

Zac Brown was quoted by the Canadian Press while at a tour stop recently with the Dave Matthews Band. “Every step of it’s done the right way and I expect people are really going to love this record and see the depth of our musicianship. We’re always growing. Not that we’ve arrived at any grand finale or anything, but the progress from this last record to this one, it’s tremendous and I’m proud of it.” See what Brown is talking about. You Get What You Give is slated to include a good number of country radio-friendly tunes, but Brown also noted that there will be other influences reflected in the track list as well, including some Texas sing and jam band beats. The band is currently best known for the catchy and radio-friendly ballad “Chicken Fried” off of The Foundation.

Zac Brown started trying out his musical chops in 2002, when he gathered up a group of artists to play at small local venues. The following year he started his own music label and the Zac Brown Band released Home Grown in 2003 and Live from the Rock Bus Tour in 2005. Just a year later, Brown recruited some new members for the band and hit the road full-time, stopping at rock and country music venues.

Almost simultaneously they were gleaning new material for their major debut release The Foundation. Although it took a longer than anticipated to get their music on the shelves, the band finally was able to celebrate the release of The Foundation in November 2008. The first single off the record, “Chicken Fried,” quickly became a smash hit across several genres.

In light of the band’s new-found success on the charts, Zac Brown managed to expand Southern Ground Records and started signing several new artists to the label including the Sonia Leigh Band, Levi Lowrey and Nic Cowan.
