Theme Park Accidents and How to Avoid Them

Theme Park Accidents

While theme park accidents are few and far between, they still occur at theme parks and amusement parks around the world. This is something that should be expected, as accidents occur in nearly every other aspect of life.

A majority of accidents that occur at theme parks could actually be avoided. Familiarizing yourself with various theme park accidents may help you to avoid them altogether. While these accidents happen in all areas of a theme park, they tend to occur in four major areas. These areas include parade routes, roller coasters, amusement rides, and water parks.

Parades

One of the places that theme park accidents can occur is during the parades of that theme park. Parades can dispurse quickly and it can be very easy to lose sight of a small child. Those who are not paying attention to their surroundings may run into the path of a float or vehicle. The resulting accident could have been avoidable, but is still seen as an accident for the theme park. If you have small children with you at a theme park, be sure to keep them close as you enjoy the parade.

Roller Coasters

Roller coasters have an incredible track record, as far as accidents are concerned. Most roller coasters are accident free, and have not had to deal with the freak accidents that occur on only a few roller coasters per decade. The only accidents that many will encounter on a roller coaster come from a ride stalling, or bumping into another train at a slow speed. Very rarely, if at all, do you hear of accidents occuring where a person falls out of a roller coaster. Roller coasters have been tested thousands of times before people are allowed to ride.

Amusement Rides

A majority of the theme park accidents that many hear about occur with the amusement rides found at theme parks. Guests and workers that find themselves in restricted areas can be struck by a ride, causing injury. Guests may misbehave or ignore the safety rules for a ride and get into an accident as well. Generally, those who follow the rules of the ride, as well as the rules of common sense, are safe on amusement rides.

Water Parks

A majority of theme parks feature water parks. Unfortunately, a lot of theme park accidents can occur at these water parks. Guests who cannot swim will get caught up in the wave pool. Guests ignore safety rules and cause accidents on large water slides. These accidents, like most, are completely avoidable, but still occur each and every year.

It is important for you to understand that it is still safe for you to visit your favorite theme parks. You should not avoid your favorite theme parks out of fear of an accident or of injury. While these accidents do happen, the vast majority of theme can be avoided by simply acting in a smart and intelligent manner. Take note of these various theme park accidents to fully understand what you can do to avoid theme park accidents.
