You are breathless with excitement as the girl you’ve liked very much has agreed to go on the first date with you. You are running a movie in your mind as to what may happen during the date.

You are fully aware that what you do or do not do on the first date could well mean your success or failure with her to get into a blissful relationship. There are so many things that can go wrong or hopefully go right on your first date and determining what you should do or not do can make or break that first night out for the both of you. Here are some tips for a successful first date you should bear in mind.

Never Be Late – Believe it or not, this will set a very deep impression about you on her mind whether you are a responsible person or not. Do understand that first impression matters alot and your punctuality will set the tone for the whole night. If you are not at the dating venue when your she is, it could all go awry from there. Being late gives the impression that you are not putting your best foot forward and are not serious about the date. Therefore do not sabotage the night by being late.

Put Her At Ease – First dates can sometimes be rather awkward and uncomfortable for some people because of the nerve jitters. However, you being the man should appear confident and comfortable. Really, she can feel your nervousness and that will put you down a notch in her book. Remember, girls are charmed by confident men and not nervous wrecks.

Keep Your Banter Interesting – There are so many things you can talk and banter about with her and if you start the conversation on track, then good possibilities will be in abundance. But do not start talking about yourself too much unless she asks you questions. Even then, keep it to the minimum. In turn, ask her questions which she can answer easily such as her hobbies, her likes and what she does for fun. People like to talk about themselves and their likes and your date will be no exception.

Listen Sincerely – Be attentive and sincere while she is talking to you even if the subject of the conversation is not your cup of tea. That is just being polite and ethical. It shows that you have good manners and upbringing.

Never Talk About Past Relationships – Being curious, she will probably ask you questions about your past relationships. Bear in mind that you should avoid this subject on your first date as this is probably one of the most important factors for a successful first date. Whether your past relationships are good or bad, just avoid it. When she asks questions about it, she is testing you to find out whether you are a fib.

The worst thing is that you broach the subject yourself without her even asking about it. This can be a big turn off for many women. Most people generally dislike listening about breakups or if you have been dumped or was, dumped someone else.

If you are prompted by her about your past relationships, then just keep it brief and light and change the subject once you have the opportunity to do so. Also, always give the impression that your past relationships ended amicably to show that there are no baggages left over so that they may implicate your relationship with your new date, then move on to another subject.

Do not avoid the subject entirely if asked as it will appear as though you are trying to hide something. Just be truthful but brief.
