What Are the Benefits of Corian?
When deciding what material to use for your kitchen worktops or bathroom surrounds it can be quite tricky. There are so many different materials out there for you to choose from, all of which have their advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion though the best of the lot has to be Corian due to its ability to be formed and shaped into pretty much any shape or design you desire. This is why I have outlined the characteristics and advantages of Corian below.
Resistance
When thinking about which material is most suitable for your worktops, you really need to think about what you need the material to be able to sustain. Corian is an incredibly versatile material that can withstand impacts, cuts, stains and abrasions that can occur day in and day out. However the most favourable benefit that Corian has over many of its competitors is its ability to be repaired. Unlike other materials, scratches, dents and nicks can all be removed and repaired quickly and efficiently without any hassle to the owner. Saving time and more importantly….money.
Aesthetics
We now live in a world whereby appearance is becoming more and more important. From clothes to kitchen worktops we all like things that look nice. And why not. With Corian, there are so many different styles and colours to choose from, all of which are solid throughout the entire material. Meaning your surfaces will look consistent throughout. Lighter colours can even create a translucent look, especially with the 6mm sheets enhancing the effect of your Corian worktops.
Joining
Inconspicuous joints are a great characteristic to have in any worktop material. Corian has this characteristic making any shape of worktop possible. Edges, upturns and downturns can be added with look that they are part of one solid piece of material. Individual parts of worktop can be fabricated in the factory and joined on site creating the look and feel of one large piece of worktop with no visible joins.
Hygiene
Because of other characteristics and advantages Corian is incredibly hygienic making it suitable for use in homes, healthcare, hotels, in fact anywhere is suitable. Because it is non-porous and has no visible joins there is nowhere for bacteria and mould to hide meaning the surface can be cleaned with the safety of knowledge that it really is completely clean.
Repairing
When it comes to deciding which material to choose for your worktops then reparability is probably high on most people’s lists. Using Corian worktops you can have worktops safely knowing that whatever accidents happen to your tops can be easily repaired. With a non-abrasive cleanser and non-abrasive scouring pad simple damage such as cigarette burns and scratches can be removed with ease. Greater damage such as dents, chips and larger scratches can be repaired by a qualified fabricator very quickly without any change to the appearance of your Corian worktops.
Thermoformable
Corian can be thermoformed into various shapes and designs under controlled temperatures. As a result of this, vanity units, bowls etc can be formed and installed creating to look that bowls and sinks are directly part of the Corian worktop with no visible joins.
