Saying Good Bye to Baby Belly
Being pregnant and becoming a mother is a special and unique experience. Almost every woman would feel fulfilled after knowing that she will become a mother soon, much more once the baby is born. However, there is an ugly side to becoming a mother. Even if a woman maintains a healthy diet or exercises during pregnancy, there will still be a large flap of skin that will be left after giving birth. This is known as the baby belly. Even if a pregnant woman did not gain much weight, her skin would have still stretched to accommodate the growing baby inside her womb. Once this large mass of life has been out, the mother is left to deal with the baby belly. Contrary to what other women believe in, the baby belly can be eliminated for good and all mothers can say goodbye to that flap of skin and say hello to their old figure.
Baby belly can be eliminated through proper exercise. Please note that there is a special exercise program for this purpose. Normal abdominal exercises focus on building up the abdominal muscles. In the case of the baby belly, we need to remove the excess fats first before we start to build up or develop the muscles. The exercise routines will also focus on the lower abdominal area, which is the most affected portion, but will also touch on the other parts of the abdomen, especially the sides.
Some Exercise Tips
Here are some exercises that you may consider doing if you wish to eliminate your baby belly for good. Always remember that before starting out with any exercise routine, be sure to consult a doctor for safety reasons.
Crunches – Crunches are different from regular sit ups. In doing regular sit ups, our body weight is our force is spread over the abdomens as well as the back. Thus, we are unable to focus on the target area. With crunches, we are able to concentrate on the abdomen, particularly the lower part, to ensure that we are able to lose the excess weight that has accumulated in our belly. Some people believe that crunches are hard to accomplish. This may only be true if you lack the will and determination to lose weight. There is also a special type of crunches that is every effective in eliminating excess fat. We start out with the lying position, but instead of raising the body up to reach the knee, we would need to raise our knees instead. Once the knees are close enough to the tummy, we would need to lift the buttocks as well and then try to touch our chest with our knees.
Side twist – Side twists are different from side raises or side bends, because our main goal is not to build the oblique muscles but just remove excess fats and bring the muscles in line with the abdomens. Always remember that you should not use extra weights thinking that this would help sped up the process. Using extra weights while doing side twists may cause the muscles to grow; this will increase our waistline instead of reducing it and this is not the result we want. After a month of doing side twists, we have the option to use medicine balls or sticks to provide additional resistance and to help us perform the exercise more efficiently.
