1. Cleanse and exfoliate gently. Exfoliation is not necessary for everyone. If you skin is thinning or delicate in other ways, you should avoid the use of exfoliating cleansers. They can cause tiny scratches which can become inflamed or infected. Chronic inflammation is one of the causes of cellular aging. So, it’s best to avoid anything that can be irritating.

It is important to keep dirt and toxins out of the pores, because they can cause irritation too. Dead cells can become oxidized in the cells, leading to blackheads and free radical formation. It might seem like a catch-22 situation, but there is a gentle solution.

On a daily basis, take a clean cloth and wet it with warm (not hot) water. If you have a tendency to get pimples, pour a little tea tree oil on the cloth and massage.
