1. Newport Beach is one of the most famous beaches in not only the state, but in the country as well. It is always pretty crowded since it is such a popular tourist destination and a popular place for the locals, so get there early if you want to have your choice of spots on the beach. This is a nice daylong activity if you want to bike or roller blade along the pathways that are built into the area and then time at the ocean for the rest of the day.

2. Of course, thousands of people each year go to visit various places in Hollywood. There is plenty to see and do here, such as the Wax Museum where celebrities have wax figures of themselves on display. Also, there are movie studio tours, the Hollywood walk of fame, where celebrities famously imprint their hands in the sidewalk. Hollywood is also where many television shows and talk shows tape their program, so you could look into getting passes to watch a show being taped that is filmed in L.A. Hollywood also has a Chinatown nearby that can be fun to explore for a few hours if you want to take a little side trip away from Hollywood.

3. For the women, taking a shopping trip down Rodeo Dr. is also a day of fun. The shops down this famous fashion street are legendary, so you should at least take the time to look around even if you decide you do not want to buy anything. It would be quite a thrill to see all of the world-renowned shops all in a row.

4. The L.A. Dodgers, professional baseball team, play in the spring and summer months, so that is certainly something to see if you are interested in sports. Tickets are fairly simple to purchase, either directly through their ticket office or through a ticket broker online.

5. Also, the L.A. Lakers, the professional basketball team, play during the winter and early spring, which is a nice time to be in the city anyway, since the weather is usually quite cool and comfortable. Lakers tickets can be hard to come by, since it is a popular event to go to, so if you want to go to a game you should look into buying tickets well in advance and be aware that you may have to purchase through a ticket broker.

It is important to mention that L.A. does have a fairly high crime rate, so as a tourist it is always best to be cautious, especially at night. There are many gangs in the L.A. area that can be quite dangerous if you are not aware of where you are in the city. So, hopefully you can have a nice visit in L.A. and stay safe at the same time.
