My first job was with a SEO company in Philadelphia. Without any experience I just applied for the job with self confidence. Since, it was my first job I did not even do much research on the SEO Company. To be frank, I did not even read the job description in the advertisement properly. When I entered the office for the interview, I was asked to write a written examination on various subjects such as English grammar, reading and comprehension and IQ. I was confident in answering all the subjects except the internet based questions that were at the end of the paper.

Even though I have some knowledge in browsing the internet, I do not know anything about URL, hyperlinks, backlinks, title tags etc. So, I blindly chose one of the four options that was given in the answer column.
After the written test I forget about that SEO Company and started searching for another job. The very next week I received a call from the manager of the SEO Company. To my surprise I was told that I have cleared the written test and I was asked to attend an oral interview. Immediately I started preparing for my oral test from the internet. I was not questioned much about SEO on the day of interview but I got selected. On the first day I was asked to undergo training in “Link building” one of the important concepts of SEO.

Now, let me tell you what I learnt about link building

* Link building is creating links to your own site from other sites, directories etc. Links are also created from one web page to another within the same site. Links can be provided from any of the website that is related to your product which is not your competitor’s site. Links can also be given through blogs, forum and other social networking sites. All these things are done to increase the traffic to a website and drive potential customers.

* I was taught various healthy way of link building. This includes submitting articles in directories like ezinearticles and articlebase. These popular directories allow you to submit keyword rich articles. Even though one cannot write about their own product or describe their company in the content of the article, they will get a place to write about their product. At the bottom of the article (resource box), the web owners can shortly describe their product and invite them to his website to know more details through backlinks. I also came to know that article submission is the cheapest and easiest way of building links.

* I was described about blog commenting and building links through blogs. One can create healthy links through blogs if they post worthy information that solves the problem of the audience. Here also you are allowed to post your domain link.

Apart from the above I learnt a lot about link building such as forum signature linking, linking the site through e-mail etc. And now I have completed my training and I have become one of the experienced professional of this SEO Company. So, if you are a beginner to the online business you can choose the link building as it can fetch you good sales and profit.
