Beat Stress!

Stress is inevitable in our daily lives. It is but a part of our human existence. We cannot totally eradicate stress but we can surely do something to tame it. So, don’t let stress be your master, rather master it yourself. Mild stress, however, is acceptable provided the fact that we cannot really avoid it. Too much stress, however, is very detrimental to the body. Let us then find out how stress can alter the homeostasis inside our body.

Being under a lot of stress can also lessen our ability to do our activities of daily living. We tend to be very weak to accomplish a certain task. We find it very hard to concentrate when we are under stress therefore reducing our cognitive faculties. We also tend to be very irritable and we may likely to disrupt our social functioning.

Stress is one of the major reasons of the weakening of the immune system and other bodily defenses. Once, the immune system is altered, we become more predisposed to many illnesses. With a weakened immune system, our bodies’ capacity to ward off pathogens is also reduced.

Our bodies are known to have progenitor cancer cells. Once we are predisposed to several triggering factors, these progenitor cells will be activated and will cause mutation within the normal cells. There will be a disruption in the normal genetic make up of the cells. This can now be the start of abnormal growths also known as tumors which may be benign or even malignant.

Those were just a few things on the long lists that stress can cause us. So, why let yourself be vanquished with stress? Tame it and let it bow according to your ways. There are several things we can do to minimize the detrimental effects of stress. The bottom line is that we should know how to control it.

Having a good day’s laugh would help beat stress. Laughing would give you a positive sense thereby even releasing more happy hormones also known as endorphins which are good for the body. Do not also be a worrier type of person because this can even stress you out all the more. You may try to give yourself a break and just try to hang loose. If you are too busy with work, you may try to go on a relaxing weekend escape and try to rejuvenate.

Get a lot of sleep! Sleep is also very therapeutic to the body. This can bring a lot of wonders for us. During sleep, we let our body repair itself. Therefore, it is very important to get a good night’s sleep. Usually six to eight hours of sleep would do. The quality of sleep matters more than the length of sleep. Never deprive yourself with sleep. So, while you try to take a snooze you may set up a spy gear to make yourself feel secured in your subconscious state. You may also put within your reach a stun weapon just in case there would be any attackers at night. You know how it is these days. Worry no more, hit the sack, freely fall into a deep sleep and try to beat stress!
