How to Put on Weight Healthily

Yes, obesity is a serious problem in many developed countries and is a cause of genuine concern for the health authorities, particularly in countries like USA and Great Britain.
However, our focus on obesity issues make us forget a group of people who are grossly underweight. Yes, there are many underweight people who need help to make them heavier and healthier
Although obesity is the cause of many health complications, being underweight also has its health risks such as getting pre-mature heart diseases, cancer, erectile dysfunction and as for the older folks, osteoporosis and bone fractures.
Underweight people are also regarded as aesthetically unpleasant because of their frail body frame and many are even victims of bullies in social gatherings such as in schools or at the office.
If you are scrawny and thin all your life, you must have wished that you can put on more weight on your body structure. You probably have tried many ways to put on weight but without any success and may have even given up. Please don’t give up because skinny people can and do put on weight if they take the correct actions to do so.
One important thing that you should not do to put on more weight is to increase your intake of junk foods because it is a very unhealthy. Most junk foods contain tons of trans fats, saturated fats and refined sugar, all of which are very unhealthy and can cause you medical problems in the future.
Although you need to increase your calorie consumption, get them from healthy fats such as omega-3 essential fatty acids which are abundant in fishes like tuna and salmon. You also need to consume good proteins to build muscles and you can get them from lean meats, fish, poultry, legumes, nuts and seeds. Good carbohydrate sources include vegetables, whole grains and fruits.
Also supplement your protein intake with protein powders for extra calories. Take multivitamins and minerals supplement to make sure that you are getting the necessary vitamins and minerals to help you to put on more weight.
Next, start a weight training exercise program to help you put on muscles. When you lift weights, you are forcing your body to grow bigger and that means that you will get heavier because muscles are heavier than fat. In this way, you will put on muscles rather than unhealthy body fat. However, many people lift weights in the wrong way or they chose the wrong exercises to do and so they do not get the results that they want.
So it is recommended that you do some research for a good bodybuilding program to help you to get results faster and safely. If you can afford it, hire a personal trainer who is experienced in helping people to increase their muscle weight. You will get results much faster this way because a good trainer will be able to guide you professionally to achieve your goals quickly.
Yes, unless you some underlying medical conditions, you can put on extra weight even if you have been thin all your life.
