Choosing Your Clothes For Summer

Just the thought of the oncoming summer has the power to excite the minds of people no matter the age group, or cultural background. And people of all sorts have to make the decision of what type of clothing they will wear during the summer. Summer time is a time mostly noted for having the characteristic of having warm to hot weather, which is often accompanied with that characteristic humidity. Choosing the right clothing definitely has to do with several factors that don\’t only surround the subject of fashion. So what factors should a person look at when choosing clothes for summertime?

First and foremost comfort should be considered. The best type of clothing to choose on a hot and humid day are types that consist of light, airy fabrics, that wont stick, and allow you to feel the breeze coming through. For women loose fitting sun dresses would be a good pick, or a loose fitting top and shorts, with open toed shoes for men. These are just suggestions of course as there are many options. As long as the fabric is cool and the fit is relatively loose, it should be a good choice for summer clothing. One interesting fact to note when choosing the fabric is to keep in minds which are the coolest in nature. The \”cool\” title is automatically given to linen and cotton. Linen is perfect for the summer due to its durability, coolness, as well as ability to absorb perspiration. This is why you will usually see people from the hot and humid islands dressed in fine linen. Cotton is a cool fabric as well. A good idea is to buy pieces that have a linen/cotton mix. This way you can stay cool without all the wrinkles that linen alone is prone to. Denim is another good fabric choice as it is nothing more than tightly woven cotton. Linen, cotton, and denim, are not the only fabrics conducive to hot weather, but the main thing to keep in mind is to choose a fabric that will keep you from sweating on a hot day.

Choosing the correct fabric is important, but another way to choose summer clothing is by the colour scheme. When sunlight hits a piece of light coloured clothing, it bounces off like a ball. When the sunlight reflects off your clothing like this, it means that the absorption of heat is kept to a minimum. The difference in dark clothing is quite notable, as dark clothing actually absorbs sunlight, allowing for heat to be attracted to the wearer. Thus, lightly coloured clothing is the optimum choice for summer clothing. Pastels, pinks, yellows, think spring type colours. White, yellow, green, blue. Stay away from blacks, and deep purples, and browns. Save those colours for winter when the absorption of heat is needed. If in doubt go for clothes with grey or pastel colours – Bolongaro Trevor clothes are particularly good for this.
