The Shocking Truth
Every single time, every single moment of a spa or pool owner’s life involves pool chemicals. C’mon, you do agree right? No one who is a possessor can escape the fact that pool chemicals is tightly bonded or tied into acquiring, having or maintaining a pool.
Pool sanitizers and chemicals vary. These variations rely, quite obviously, on a pool or spa owner’s preferences. But undoubtedly, the two pool chemicals that majority of pool owners enjoy are bromine and chlorine.
Bromine and chlorine, we’d known them. So, yes, we can say that they really have made their names in the pool and spa industry. They have been two of the most pursued chemicals out there. They have proven themselves to be effective when it comes to sanitizing and cleaning our pools and spas. Or did they?
Before we can ever rush into anything, we must first take a look at both chemicals. Let’s take a close look at what bromine and chlorine truly are. Are they really what they appear and say to be?
CHLORINE
Chlorine was discovered by Sir Carl Scheele, a Swedish chemist in the year of 1774. It is produced by the electrolysis in the water. The chlorine that is dissolved in the water then kills the microorganisms and contaminants that might be present in your spa or pool. It’s actually pretty basic. Almost everyone uses salt to disinfect something. Be it your poultry and other meats. Salt just has that remarkable attribute that makes those pesky bacteria and germs come crumbling down.
Chlorine has been famous for like, FOREVER. It has been one of the pioneers in terms of cleaning and sanitizing one’s spa and pool.
Chlorine is added or deducted from the pool or spa as per water test strips’ result. If the chlorine reading is too low, the chlorine can be increased by adding chlorine tablets or powder into the water. On the other hand, filtering out or draining some of the water will decrease the chlorine level in the water.
BROMINE
Bromine was discovered by Sir C. Lowig, a German chemistry learner who was experimenting he’s way through chlorine. Yes, you read it right alright. Well, bromine can be after all, considered as a new and improved version of chlorine.
Bromine can be easily found from just about anywhere in nature. It can be found in the sea, some plants and rocks and the earth’s crust.
Bromine application to a pool or spa can also be either in tablet or powder form. Same thing is done also if the bromine levels are high or low, of course depending on the water test strips’ reading. And again, bromine is considered to be a better alternative to chlorine. In facts users and scientist alike agree that bromine sanitized pools and spas are healthier to use than chlorinated one.
So what’s the shocking truth you say? Well, research shows that NEITHER of these components can truly clean out one’s pool or spa. Yup, NEITHER. Apparently, there’s a new kid in town and he’s ALL NATURAL. And he’s name is SPHAGNUM MOSS.
Scientists and researchers have declaimed that both bromine and chlorine have proven ineffective in thoroughly disinfecting the water. Well, ain’t that just a shocking truth! All that money spent on those pool and spa chemicals go down the drain. Tsk, tsk, tsk…
Well, according to the grapevine, GOD has given us everything that we could ever need. We just need to look hard enough to see it.
