Government Schools Vs. Private Schools
Schooling is the best way to impart education among toddlers. The schools include both government and private institutions. The government schools are the conventional schools that follow the prototype education system. While the private schools provide attractive educational facilities like usage of computers in 1 to 1 basis for the students, high tech classes and study materials.
On the other hand, government schools charge less for tuition fees or none at all as per Article 45 of the constitution of India which puts the onus of providing free and compulsory education up to the age of 14. But failure of the government to run these institutions, leading to massive dropout rate has struck the government at its roots. Even after 5 decades after independence the government has not been able to fulfill its obligation.
Private schools are restricted to the limits of metropolis only so they are out of reach of the communes needless to mention the far flung areas of rural India that still remain victims of the social dichotomy and fail to catch a glimpse of the primary schools. Bribes for donation and expensive uniforms, books etc add to the ever growing distress. Fixation of own syllabus (except the board classes) and modifications of reference books every year are a must in private schools.
Carelessness of teachers and parents of the students is also responsible for this. Reservation system (which is a trend in government institutions) on the other hand though helped the backward class in coming into the mainstream education, ruined the system of education itself. 40% scorers are now becoming doctors and engineers just to degrade the society to a further level.
Drowned in modernization the private schools have started using phonetics as a medium to teach the toddlers. But somehow this new inclusion is a misfit in the society. Government schools are now providing mid day meals and uniforms, using TLMs (teaching learning materials) to teach the students.
Coming to the jobs, we now find the government employees more secured than the private ones, as they (the teachers) get a fixed payment with an increment each year and with the new pay commissions, along with PPF, gratuity, rents etc. But the private sector is brewing with uncertainty. Temporary jobs, less pay scale, more work load have been the characteristics of the private institutions.
This results in appointment of home tutors for students in almost every subject. The students are forced to complete huge syllabi and simultaneously practice their other activities like swimming, dancing, painting, so that they are tagged as “all rounder”. But all these were “supposed” to be taught in schools. The government grants being misused is developing more and more corruption in schools.
Even the private institutions are squeezing money from their students. A steady graph of drainage of wealth thus formed is worth noticing. The rich are becoming richer, the poor the benefactor, the middle class- the sufferer. Negligence and lack of thorough scientific research of the present systems of education both in government and private institutions is harming the youngsters of present day. But is anybody listening?
