Upgrade Your Bathroom – Where to Begin?

Making improvements in the design of your bathroom may be difficult. Not to mention that it can be expensive. And so, we will provide you with tips that will help make this task a little lighter and help you keep track and reduce your expenses while undergoing the project.

Look at your bathroom. Evaluate what needs improvement. Remember that this task does not mean that you need to make an overhaul of your bathroom. Surely, there are items and fixtures are still in good condition and can still be used for a few more years.

Conduct an inspection of the room and make a list of which areas need to be painted, what color you need for those areas, what furniture you need to add/replace/dispose, and determine what general feel you would want your bathroom to have.

Clear the room. When you have decided that you want to repaint it, you need to take out furniture or cover immovable fixtures. Also when making major improvements with electrical lines or plumbing and drainage systems. You should prioritize your safety when repairing electrical lines by clearing the area as much as you can. When fixing pipes, you would want to avoid damage to your bathroom fixtures by keeping them away from possible splashes of water.

There may be a need to remove fixtures that are installed in the walls. You will be able to efficiently paint the walls when these are removed. Also, this will be an opportunity to paint the fixtures of a different color. After painting the walls, it will be okay for you to put back the fixtures and the bathroom furniture.

Clean the area. Especially when you are to do a painting job, you need to remove debris, dust, and grime from the area. This will ensure that you have a good result since you have a smooth surface to paint on. Painting on a clean surface will also significantly lengthen the time it would take for the paint to shed off.

This is also the best time to treat molds and mildew that have grown in the area. Look under the bath fixtures and other hidden spaces.

Measure the room and the furniture. When you are going to add new furniture in the room, you should make sure that they will fit. Generally, bathrooms have very limited spaces. So, take out your tape measure and start knowing the exact dimension of the room.

During this renovation, you might want to add more free space in your bathroom. Or, you may want to make it look less spacious. To have more space, you might want to reconsider having a bathtub and simply settle with a shower. And if you want to make the room look less gigantic, you can decide to add artifacts like candles with holders, carpets, flowers or plants, and a lot more.

Improve lighting. Lighting can make a big difference in a room. You can improve the lighting in your bathroom by making it brighter where it matters. The area in the vanity cabinet and the shower stall or the bath tub will be places where proper lighting should be installed.
