Email Marketing – Avoid Looking Like Spam!

E-mail is a great way to advertise your business. You can reach an innumerable amount of people very quickly by sending one single message to a large group of people that are in your contacts list. The only problem is that there are a large numbers of companies out there that send high amounts of unsolicited e-mails to people. These are what people are referring to when they call certain e-mails \”spam\”. Spammers are always going to exist as long as huge amounts of people have e-mail accounts. For every good part of something there is always a bad side and spammers are that when it comes to e-mail marketing. They annoy people and they make companies that advertise legitimately via e-mail look bad just by association. There are some steps that you can take though to look less like a spammer when you use e-mail to advertise.

The first thing you must get right when you are trying to not look like a spammer with your promotion e-mails is the part that indicates who the e-mail is from. This is simply because this the first thing that people read when they are opening and reading their e-mails in their inbox. If your e-mail address is weird or confusing people are less likely to read it and are more likely to mark it as spam. It is best to have your e-mails show up as being from your place of business instead of some confusing address with a lot of numbers and letters that don\’t make sense or a lame generic first name that can seem like the obvious disguised of a spammer.

The second most important thing when it comes to not appearing to be a spammer is the subject line of your e-mail. This is the line that indicates what the e-mail will be about and it is also one of the first things that people read when deciding whether or not to open an e-mail. Subject lines that contain a bunch of numbers or random words that don\’t make sense are usually strong indicators that the message at hand is spam. Try to be creative wit your subject lines and not include random numbers and words. Try to think of things that you like too see when receiving an e-mail to seem more familiar with your intended audience. If you do not think that it looks like spam your target audience probably will not either. Spammers look like spammers because they do not take the time and effort to really reach out to their customers in a more individual manner.

Another great way to avoid looking like a spammer is to go through your own personal e-mail account and look at the e-mails you receive that you think are spam. Take time to look at them and see what makes them appear spam-like to you and avoid those qualities in your own e-mail advertising. A little time and effort in your subject lines and the body of your text should set you apart from the endless array of spammers out there in cyberspace.
