There are many beautiful young people around today and some of these will want to enter the world of show business in one way or another. Not everyone has a superb singing voice of course, nor can they act up a storm, but most will have a look which may be commercial in one form or another. When this is the case, it may well be a good idea to contact a modeling agency to see what they can offer. Modeling agencies will be very well acquainted with the kind of look that is in vogue right now and may well discover a blooming talent that others have overlooked.

The would-be star does not necessarily have to have perfect features or be seven foot tall these days. There is a need for all kinds of characters for many different genres within the industry so they are able to find a niche market somewhere. For example, the larger woman these days is the norm rather than the exception and the backlash against super skinny women showing off clothes is gaining in strength. These are really bad role models for the youngsters of today so these agents are now looking for ‘normal’ women to portray the average woman in the street. Not only that, not every show is a catwalk in Milan or Paris either and many men and women find their niche being photographed for catalogues and such. So too, those with pretty hands or feet, or even a great smile, will be used in advertising for hand lotion, foot products or toothpaste. Who needs to be willowy for that?

The first thing one should do then is to look for someone who is interested in taking on new talent. One always has to be careful here because there are unscrupulous people out there who will fill a brain with dreams and then charge the earth to make it all come true. A true agent will see talent and will be willing to speculate with his own money if he has faith in the person. Anything less than this form of commitment needs to be carefully examined for sure.

This new person in the business will also need professional photographs taken so that prospective hirers will be able to see that they can look different in different ways. Changing up the hair color and cut, or just styling in a completely different way, may well be enough for them to see the potential. But be aware that some photographers too take these easy pickings and do not produce quality shots. Just get half a dozen or so done to give the agent the general idea and let them work out the rest.

Finally, this is certainly a dog eat dog world so be prepared for whatever happens. Never go to shoots alone and certainly not in hotel rooms or the home of the employer unless accompanied by someone else. Some weird folk use this to lure teenage girls into compromising situations. Be careful out there!
