Office Designs To Increase Worker Performance
People in the management can help increase worker’s productivity by providing workers with something to strive for. One very famous example is recognition and reward. But, aside from these well known methods, did you know that you can help increase the performance of your employees by designing their environment well? Here are the ways:
Prioritize comfort. If your main goal is to increase the performance at work of your employees, it is safe to assume that your designs should be focused on maintaining or increasing their comfort level. This can be easily achieved with comfy office chairs or ergonomically designed tables and office furniture.
These furnishings which are designed for your ease of use can cost more than regular furniture. But, it can be worth it to invest in such type of items rather than on custom designed ones.
Avoid using cubicles that feel too airless. Aside from making sure that there is enough room for every cubicle, consider using materials that will make the space look like a private work area and not bordering on an isolated place.
Consider the colors. The color of the place can make the office area feel too crowded or boring. Avoid those that are too heavy on the eyes. Examples of these colors include red, orange, and bright yellow. Instead, you should make sure that you have “comfortable” colors like blue, green, or white.
But, making the place purely white might not be very appealing. For this, color mixes are necessary. Other livelier colors can be added as wall improvements or office accessories.
Make it time-saving. Another very important aspect that you need to consider is the efficiency of the place. There is a huge difference in the fatigue level and time efficiency of your workers if they have walked 5 miles or just one while moving from one area to another in your office.
It can be worth it to situate essential equipment within arm’s reach of your employee. Place most commonly used office materials in strategic locations. Examples of office equipment that you need to give big consideration are photocopy machines, printers, fax machines, computers, scanner, and telephones.
Remove clutter. Institute rules that will require or inspire your workers to keep their workplaces neat and organized. You can either reward them for a well-kept space or you can punish them for not organizing their space.
Remember that when there is a lot of clutter around in your office, the place will cease to become a productive area. Most probably, it will turn into a chaotic place that will not complete any type of work.
The management also needs to provide file cabinets, drawers, and shelves to help improve the organization efforts of the workers. Plus, the files can be kept in safe and secure places.
Proper lighting. When the office is properly lighted, you can be sure to reduce eye strain among your workers. Accidents are also effectively avoided. Aside from placing lights in work areas, there should also be enough lighting in alleys and corridors.
