Several Quick Steps to Choosing and Selecting a Home Broadband Package Deal
There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to home broadband. No matter whether you’re looking to purchase a basic broadband only deal, a phone bundle or full-on broadband and TV packages, you could be faced with a host of prices, providers and complex options. Where can you start?
1) Real options
Prior to getting into the meat of the decision, you need to face the reality of your situation. Take a look at exactly what is actually available to your home so you can immediately restrict your search. Also, it means you won’t get tempted, and then bitterly disappointed, by a product you can’t even have!
Once done, you will possess a list of providers and packages that you can begin to whittle down to a manageable list. At this point you may want to rule out certain broadband providers too – perhaps you’ve had a bad experience, or friends have told you horror stores. Before doing this though, try to find some recent reviews – you may find they have cleaned up their act by improving their network, customer support or hardware.
2) Speed and download limits
Next, think closely about what you’ll be using the internet for. This would in turn help you decide what kind of monthly download limit you may need, as well as the kind of speed you want to pay for.
If you’re lucky enough to have choices of home broadband speeds, you’ll probably find faster equals more expensive. However, you might not need that speed. If you’re just using the internet to surf the net, check your mail and to hit social network sites, a pretty slow connection should see you right. However if you’re wanting to download a lot of large files, stream a lot of video, play online games or connect multiple machines at once, you may want to upgrade to a faster package.
It\’s the same for usage. Email, social networking and the internet won’t use too much of your monthly allowance, but streaming, gaming and downloading will soon eat up the data limit of a low-end tariff (be especially careful of ‘unlimited’ deals that may be far from it).
3) Deals, bundles and extras
There are a few really great broadband bundles out there, which can include telephone, mobile and television services too. What’s more, buying theses services in a bundle can save you both money and hassle: taking several services from one supplier shows loyaly, which usually means money off – plus you’ll have all the feaures condensed into one bill and only one company to call with technical or other customer enquiries.
At this point you should have a fairly short list, so keep an eye out for any of the options that may have particular offers or particularly good extras. Freebies can include anything from free months off your contract to high street vouchers, free connections or a superior Wi-Fi router. So long as you spend a bit of time checking out what’s available and doing your research, things should fall into place without too much difficulty.
