Fab Facts About Your Abs

Are you in a hurry to get your 6-pack? Well, don\’t be. That\’s because you cannot develop abs overnight – getting a 6-pack takes time and patience. More than the time, patience and the exercises, you must know what exactly it takes to get a 6-pack. So, here are some facts about abs that will help you understand how and what can help them stand out:

1. There are two types of fat in your body. Visceral fat and subcutaneous fat. The fat that lies just below the skin and is visible in the mirror is the subcutaneous fat. Visceral fat is fat that envelops the organs, and you cannot see it in the mirror. Now, you cannot get your 6-pack without getting rid of your visceral fat and getting rid of visceral fat requires aerobic and anaerobic exercises coupled with strength training. So, check with your fitness trainer about how he intends to deal with your visceral fat.

2. People train like fanatics to get their 6-packs. They perform abdominals vigorously and daily in their quest for the Holy Grail. Well, there\’s no need to work out your abdominals on a daily basis. If you do that, you risk injury. According to experts, you should not do abs any more than 3 to 4 times every week.

3. Just doing abdominals are not enough to chisel out your abs area. You need to work out all parts of your body and follow a healthy diet and lifestyle. Performing abdominals alone, without working out the rest of your body will make you look like Popeye – sorry, make that Olive Oyl.

4. If you want your abs to look like they were chiseled by Leonardo DaVinci, you must develop a strong back. You must perform all back exercises with special emphasis on exercises that tighten up your lower back. A strong lower back helps you perform intense and complicated abdominal workouts without any risk of injury (unless you are overdoing it). If your lower back\’s like jelly, you are at grave risk of injury while performing abdominals.

5. Once your abs start taking shape, you must ensure that you don\’t get back to an unhealthy diet. Your new diet must be rich in monounsaturated fatty acids and you must stay away from all sorts of unhealthy eating practices (fast food, red meat, fried stuff, packaged food, confectionery). Remember that fat builds up quickly and you can cover your 6-packs with a thick quilt of fat if you don\’t follow a healthy diet.

These are a few facts about abs. If you can spare the cash, you should get a CT scan done to figure out how much visceral fat you will have to knock off. You can plan your exercise program based on the volume of fat that you have to eliminate.

So, go right ahead and craft a gorgeous 6-pack. You now know exactly what is involved and how you should proceed. Good luck.
