Features That Often Come With Furnished Apartments
When just starting out in a career, it takes time to save money to buy all the things needed. Furnished apartments may be the solution you seek. All of the furnishings for a kitchen, living room, and bedroom are already there. Some landlords will even outfit kitchens and bathrooms.
The rent may be higher than for a rental that is unfurnished. This is for compensation of wear and tear. A landlord has to look into the possibility of replacement items. Still, when just starting out, few people have enough money to purchase the necessary items to set up a home.
The need for furnished apartments is on the rise. College graduates often need to relocate due to their job. There are also those jobs where a person is being moved every couple of years to a new location. So even when you can afford to completely furnish your living quarters, moving these belongings over and over gets boring rather quickly.
Other things to take into consideration before accepting a rental unit are many. If you find yourself transferred to a major city, transportation can be a problem. Look for rentals near your place of employment. Look for other amenities like grocery and clothing stores, and even entertainment. It is not unusual for city dwellers to want to be within walking distance of where they need to go.
Never rent living quarters sight unseen. If you can\’t get to your new location in advance of your transfer, have an associate check the place out for you. Landlords will often be willing to send photos, but they can be very deceiving and not an accurate descriptive of the premises. A friend or acquaintance can put the money down to hold the apartment until you arrive. Then you can take care of any other monies due and sign the rental or lease agreement.
Be sure that the location of the premises is in a good area. Even when it is you will want to check into the safety features. Renting a place in a secured building will go a long way in making you feel safe in an area that is foreign to you. If you own a vehicle, you want to see about a parking place with the rental unit, or a parking facility within close proximity to where the rental unit is located.
Other things you need to remember to ask about are the cost of utilities and parking fees. Don\’t take it for granted that these items are included in the rent. Furnished or not, when you factor in these costs you may feel that the residence is more costly than what your budget will allow.
All in all, furnished apartments are an excellent solution for those who cannot commit to a long term stay in any area. It is easier to get settled into a new place when the only things you need to move are your personal belongings. Once you have a better idea of what direction your career will be taking you, you can decide if you want to stay in a furnished unit or begin purchasing your own furnishings.
