Forespar Nova Lift – Simple Hoisting Equipment
Using a forespar nova lift will probably have helped prevent a boating injury that may result in ending a perfect holiday, as you rush off for treatment and end up waiting for hours at an emergency medical centre before a doctor attends to you.
Most of that time is spent cursing yourself for being so bloody stupid for getting hurt in the first place. The injury could probably have been avoided by taking some simple precautions or investing in a product designed to do the job, thereby helping you stay in holiday mode longer.
Damage
Lifting heavy objects up onto sailboats or motor yachts result in many injuries, mainly back sprains as well as crushed hands and fingers to name a few. To physically lift a 5-15 horse power outboard motor back aboard your vessel in strong winds and choppy waters from a rocking dinghy is without doubt the surest way for an injury to occur. You will notice that the hull and topsides are always damaged in these areas where this clumsy lifting is carried out.
Poor Seamanship
With the very easy and stylish forespar nova lift gear available at many reputable marine outlets, most injuries can be avoided. The outrageous and doomed to failure devices many boaters use to retrieve their valuable gear back on board does not make sense. Some sailors see it as a form of poor seamanship.
What’s the point of having the gleaming hull, the brightly polished hardware and then when it comes to lifting heavy play toys back on board, an untidy partly unraveled dirty piece of old halyard is used.
Brute Strength
Sailors spend thousands of dollars buying the best marine grade equipment such as outboard engines, dinghies, dive gear etc. for their leisure. However when it comes to getting it all safely and easily back on board the owner would rather risk injury to his crew or himself by relying on brute strength or some untidy and constantly in the way jury rig.
Theses methods do work when there are plenty of hands available to help out but if you are short handed you may find yourself salvaging some of that expensive gear from the ocean floor, simply to place it in the nearest dumpster. You would not want to leave it on the ocean floor for all other mariners to see.
Lost Playtime
Insurance may replace the lost equipment but not all the money in the world will get you back your lost playtime through some avoidable injury
Davits
If you can or have room to install a set of dinghy davits, I recommend you do so. The heartache of the painter wrapping itself around your propeller (I guarantee it will happen if you constantly tow the dinghy from one spot to the next, ) causing huge mechanical damage and even sinking which is very costly to repair making a set of davits or lift viable units to have on board.
Lift it, Stow it, Forget about it and then Relax!
