Think bold, bright and fabulous colours – funky wallpaper, 70s print cushions – be careful not to go overboard, you want to achieve a contemporary 70s look rather than a tasteless one. Industrial furniture includes the likes of old children’s lift up lid school desks with inkwells, draughtsmen’s drawers and factory-style furniture. Scratched metal tables from industrial kitchens vintage maps are also key interior design pieces this year.

Stripes

Stripes can look quirky, or they can look demure – depending on where you put them. Stripey wallpaper is very a la mode this year, especially horizontal stripes. try stripey cushion covers if you’re not quite ready to take the stripey wallpaper plunge.

Animal Prints

Animals prints have been a popular choice for the last few years – zebra and leopard prints in particular but now it’s time to branch out and go for all sorts of jungle prints. Make a bold statement with tiger print, or perhaps a bit of giraffe?

Foxes

This year’s motif is the fox, and they are lurking about everywhere: fox ornaments, foxes on cushions and duvets, on lunch boxes, on bowls and plates, tea towels and chopping boards. Grab yourself a foxy accessory to fit in with 2012’s fox motif trend.
